The YouTube Insult Generator, the Search Engine for Witty Insults

The YouTube Insult Generator, created by Adrian Holovaty, makes it easier to insult others on YouTube by doing most of the work for you [ h/t Louis Gray ].

"The YouTube community is so huge at this point that "meta" comments are very common," Adrian writes on his blog. "After groaning about these types of comments for a while, I realized they're a sort of semistructured information -- it's always a number, followed by some sort of insult. And, besides, some of them are actually kind of witty."

Type in a search term and the site will generate insults you can use against someone. For example, if you search "chocolate," you'll get "You tried to talk to the bottle of chocolate and were shot down," "You didnt eat chocolate, you had a laxative," and more. Each insult links to the source video on YouTube.

LAUNCH has contacted Adrian and YouTube and will update this story if we receive a response.

Adrian built the generator using YouTube's API to search for the top 50 most relevant videos that match the search term. For each of those videos, it analyzes the most recent 50 comments then grabs the ones that start with a number followed by a word, like "people." Then, it replaces the number and the word with "you."

Try out the generator here. As Adrian writes, "please use the insults wisely."
