Killer: Instapaper 4.0 Gets Grid Layout for iPad

Instapaper just released 4.0 for iPhone and iPad that features a grid layout on the home screen, social integration with sites like Twitter and Facebook, and a revamped "Editors" tab.

"Before 4.0, Instapaper on iPad felt like a scaled-up iPhone app," Instapaper CEO Marco Arment tells Ben Brooks. "With 4.0, I’ve made the iPad app the premier way to use Instapaper, giving it an all-new navigation interface. Even in development, my priorities shifted: I’m now optimizing all new features for the iPad first and then figuring out how to port them to the iPhone."

LAUNCH has contacted Marco and will update this story if we receive a response.

Other new features include footnotes, Wikipedia support and dedicated search feature. In order to use search, you must subscribe -- costs $2.99 for 3 months -- to be able to search the full content of all articles in your Instapaper account.

The update for iPhone also features a redesigned user interface with brightness control.

Marco left his position at Tumblr to focus more on Instapaper in 2010. He founded the company in 2009. Click here to download the app, which costs $4.99.
